Cauliflower - Deformation
Symptoms
Copper deficiency occurs very seldom. Affected plants show chlorosis on expanding and mature leaves.
Heart necrosis might also be caused by Cu undersupply.

Copper deficiency made worse by
- Organic soils
- Chalky soils
- Sandy soils
- Reclaimed heathland
- High nitrogen applications
Copper is important for
- Lignin formation, chlorophyll performance and regulation of superoxide radicals
- Necessary for blue pigment plastocyanin, seen in broccoli florets
Yara recommended fertilisers for Copper deficiency
YaraVita COPTREL 500
Cauliflower: 0.5 l/ha applied at the 4 to 6 leaf stage. For moderate to severe deficiency, one or two repeat applications should be made at 10 to 14 day intervals. Water rate: 200 l/ha.
