Causes
Severe sulphur deficiency on seedlings
Cauliflower - Chlorosis
Symptoms
Chlorosis starts in young leaves and proceeds to the older leaves with ongoing deficiency. Leaves turn uniformly light green or yellow. They are stiff. Often only thin petioles are formed
Later on affected leaves weather and curl inwards.
Causes
Sulphur deficiency
Sulphur deficiency is similar in appearance to nitrogen deficiency, however it begins on younger leaves because sulfur is not as mobile as nitrogen within the plant.

Sulphur deficiency made worse by
- Acidic soils
- Light, sandy soils (leaching)
- Low organic matter
- Poorly aerated soils (waterlogged soils
- ) Areas with low industrial emissions
Sulphur is important for
- Requirement of steady supply in relatively high quantities
- Important for head development and stress tolerance
- Major role in crop quality
- Better inner quality determinants and improved storage quality
Yara recommended fertilisers for Sulphur deficiency
YaraVita THIOTRAC 300
Cauliflower: 5 l/ha at 4 to 6 leaf stage. For moderate to severe deficiency, repeat at 10 to 14 day intervals. Water rate: 200 l/ha.
